Baby View Safety Mirror
After my daughter’s birth in 1987, living in the UK required us to secure her in a child seat in the rear of the car. This raised a challenge for my wife and me in monitoring our daughter’s well-being while driving. At the time, there were no suitable products on the market besides suction cup attachment mirrors, which positioned the mirror too far from the driver, potentially causing distractions. As a pilot, I sought a solution that would allow close proximity to the driver and ideally enable monitoring of both the traffic behind and the child in the back seat. This need led to the creation of the Baby- View Safety Mirror, designed to attach to the car’s rear-view mirror. This innovative design provided the dual functionality of viewing both rear traffic and the child, a significant improvement over existing suction cup mirrors. The mirror was showcased at the JPMA trade show in Dallas, but its launch coincided with the start of the first Gulf War, which impacted the global economy. Manufactured in Taiwan, the product was eventually marketed in the UK, USA, Japan, and Australia.
