My son loved playing in and around the swimming pool from an early age. However, pool environments
can be very dangerous for young children, requiring parents to maintain constant supervision to prevent
drowning. Additionally, pools present other hazards, such as water-soaked, slippery surfaces that can
lead to falls and serious head injuries. Market research revealed a lack of suitable products addressing
both drowning prevention and protection against physical injuries. This inspired the design of the Seal’s
Swimming Jacket in 1992. This flotation device, designed as a garment, also offers protection against
harmful sun rays, while its high-visibility color makes it easy for parents to locate their child in a crowded
environment. The design allows for adjustable buoyancy levels, with removable buoyancy pads that can
be gradually reduced as the child’s swimming skills improve. Additionally, the jacket’s padded structure
may help prevent head injuries from falls on slippery surfaces. Once the buoyancy pad pockets are
removed, the jacket can also function as a regular garment. It was featured at the Water Park trade
show in Las Vegas and was manufactured in India, with sales in the UK, USA, Kuwait, and Kenya.
